Here’s How To Grow Ornamental Grass With The Right Stages
Planting ornamental grass cannot be done carelessly, this is because the growth of ornamental grass is influenced by weather factors, the type of fertilizer used, and how the irrigation is carried out. Furthermore, you also need to know what causes stunted growth in plants before you plant some ornamental grass on your lawn.
Therefore, so that your ornamental grass can grow well, you can try some of the tips below:
1. Make sure the ornamental grass gets enough water
Providing enough water is the most widely applied method of growing ornamental grasses. Water is of course a source of nutrients for your ornamental grass. Therefore, you need to water it regularly in the morning and evening. Do not over-water it, so that the roots of your ornamental grass do not rot.
2. Give it some organic fertilizer
For ornamental grass to grow faster, you can stimulate its growth by providing organic liquid fertilizer. You can use NPK fertilizer (Nitrogen (N), Phosphate (P), and Potassium (K)) as much as 100gr/m².
3. Pruning the grass regularly
When the ornamental grass that grows has an uneven height, so that the ornamental grass you have can look beautiful, you need to trim it every 3 months. Keep your ornamental grass at a height of 2.5-3 cm.
4. Eliminate disruptive plants
Sometimes without us realizing it, nuisance plants often appear around our ornamental grass, of course, this will be able to interfere with the growth of the ornamental grass that we have. Nutrients that should be absorbed by ornamental plants can switch to nuisance plants. Therefore, checks need to be carried out regularly and whenever a nuisance plant is found, it is immediately exterminated.
5. Inject planting media with sand and humus
Planting media that is continuously used will eventually become loose, this can cause plants to have difficulty getting water and other nutrients.
Therefore, you need to add sand and humus to the growing media. The trick is to make holes in it at every 10×3 cm distance with a depth of 5-10 cm. Then mix the sand and humus in the planting medium.
